Weekend started slowly with the promise of bad weather and a clutch that wouldn’t disengage properly after a cable change.. Soon, however the clutch was fixed and the bad weather failed to materialise – instead turning into the hottest weekend of the year!
We (that’s Chris, new member Paul Marsden plus a couple of my friends) met up in the Hunters at 2100 for beer. Later, some of us headed over to the Belfry for a spot of glass walking and road cone squashing. I crept back to the Shepton at 4am covered in vegetable oil.
Next morning we awoke to the smell of breakfast around 9am. I had to attend a student meeting at the Belfry, but meanwhile Annie and Steve arrived at the Shepton and, along with Chris, headed down Thrupe lane.
Upon my return the rest of us walked over to Swildons and did a quick trip to sump one and back. Returning to the Shepton we drank tea, ate cheese and crisps before the call of the Hunters took us back there for an
evening of cloudy cider, a free buffet at midnight in the back room and then to bed.
Sunday took us to Burrington Coombe for a scrabble round Goatchurch and an ice cream.
Returning to the Shepton we loaded the car and bike and said our goodbyes before heading back to London. The journey took me a lot longer on the bike than usual because of the number of stops I had to make to drink water and cool down (it was 31C outside!).
