Croydon Caving Club own a cottage Godre Pentre in Ystradfellte between Abadare and Brecon in South Wales. This is well located for Porth yr Ogof (PYO), Little Neath River Cave (LNRC) and about 20 minutes from Penwyllt and the extensive Ogof Ffynnon Ddu (OFD) cave system.
“Above ground” activities near the cottage include the Waterwall Walk along the along the Afon Mellte, walking on the Brecon fans and climbing at Dinas Rock – “a brilliant crag with some of the best climbing in SE Wales: single- and multi-pitch routes up to 65m” (ukclimbing.com).
The cottage has bunkhouse accomodation for groups of up to 15, with central heating and a shower inside and another in the rail wagon shed that we use for changing and storing caving gear. Rates are £4.00 per night (£3.00 for Croydon CC members).
